Circus Freak Love Triangle

• Whole time. Hole in the fence. Yet no one passed through it without the intent to return. They are more afraid of what’s in the wilderness than their own form of government which doesn’t care if it kills every last person there evidently. 
• Slow lethargic mother who lost her husband and went catatonic to the point of nearly killing her children through neglect. She’s supposed to be an apothecary yet she can’t do anything to help herself take care of her children. No wonder people are fucking dying in the streets. Didn’t even bother to attempt to keep her own kids alive. 
• Capitol does nothing to support their cash-cows, letting the poorer districts die in the streets, starve to death and so on. Meanwhile the young and more able-bodied are all put in the running to be slaughtered in the name of a revolt played out 70 years ago. It couldn’t have been bad enough that they thought they had wiped out a district in the process. No. That’s enough at all. 
• Parents clearly don’t care enough about their children to keep revolting in order to protect their offspring. Nope, allow the things that they sacrificed their lives, time and resources for to die to remind them of what the generation before them did because they were bad in the past. By all means, let 12-18 years of life and spent resources go to risk. It’s not like they couldn’t contribute to Capitol in some other way, like uhm -PRODUCING. 
• For something that’s supposed to be futuristic, it’s not really. It’s only in any way advanced if you are part of Capitol, and Capitol itself is not even in the majority. The world as it is too sympathetic to not at least have a healthcare system of some kind. They need the districts to support their way of life. But hey, the only penalty is not falling in line is they kill you. They try to kill you anyways six times before you’re nineteen. So it’s all okay. 
• The districts hold the majority. You cannot cow all the districts into submission, it’s too large of an area to cover. Capitol is not in the majority. As a minority, they don’t have enough people to wipe them out for disobedience. 
• Capitol has to be in the minority because it takes 12 (formerly 13) districts to support it. The districts themselves cannot be that large because they have to be able to control it. If they don’t have the man-power to control it, then Capitol would have been destroyed decades before.
